September was orienteering month. Scouts spent the weekend at Catoctin Mountain where older scouts taught younger scouts how to use a map and compass to find their magnetic heading and pace out the distance to a known object. Then, each patrol worked their way through an orienteering course. In their downtime, scouts enjoyed a fire-building competition, a dinner cook-off, and lots of patrol time.
